The Green Hag of Greygasp is a third party adventure for D&D 5th Edition for 4th to 6th level characters created by Loot the Room - an ENnie nominated blog that produces free resources and articles for tabletop RPGs. You can find them @pangalactic on Twitter or by checking out their website loottheroom.uk
The Green Hag of Greygasp is available on their website and comes with a physical and PDF copy for 10 pounds (plus shipping), roughly $14 USD depending on the exchange rate.
I first heard of LTR when I came across their Bulette Storm adventure on the DMsGuild it was one of the first non-WOTC products I ever picked up when I got into this hobby. It is an exciting adventure with a ticking clock that is - I believe - inspired by the movie Jaws. I haven't had the opportunity to play Bulette Storm yet (or The Green Hag of Greygasp either), but I think that they both offer a unique feel to your 5E game. Bulette Storm is available as a pay what you want product on the DMsGuild with a suggested price of $4.95 (well worth it in my opinion).
Back to the module at hand though, The Green Hag of Greygasp (GHG) twists away from what you would likely expect to find in a 5E adventure. In my opinion, this is definitely a strong point for GHG. While there is combat involved in this adventure (with many cool unique monsters such as a house mimic), the primary focus of GHG is on roleplaying.
The main villain, a Green Hag that lives near the town of Greygasp (shocking I know given the name), knows that the players will likely find her no matter how hard she tries to trick them - and she also knows that they are likely going to be a tough fight. To help sway the odds in her favour, the Hag does everything in her power to get the party to arrive at her lair when she wants them to - and hopefully in a weaker state than they would like to.
In my personal opinion, this adventure feels like it would be a great choice for anyone who plays 5E and is not looking to leave the system. Personally, I feel like I would struggle to run this module as my players always expect I am up to no good when I smile (often true) and I have a hard time hiding my smile which in my case my throw off the Hag's plans by no fault of her own.
One thing that totally subverts the expectations of 5E is the Hag's attempt to take control of one of the players on their final slog to her lair. This is something that can get kind of iffy (removing player agency and all that). LTR does a great job in including safety tools in the text of the adventure and reminding you that your players and their feelings are more important than the Hag's power working as intended if it isn't 100% fun
If you are LTR has other projects on their site as well as I talk about other non-5E ideas in my other blog posts that I suggest you check out if you are interested.
This adventure was originally written as part of a trio of adventures, each piece focusing on a different hag in a coven. The other two sections are available for purchase on the DMsGuild:
Dread Shelan & the Sahuagin by RP Davis
The Bog of Enoren Titchwillow - The Hag's Hexcrawls by Jennifer R. Povey & Tim Bannock
